What is Toklas restaurant?
Toklas is a Mediterranean restaurant in central London, just off the Strand. We cook on our open grill with the best seasonal produce we can find, letting the ingredients do most of the work. All our ingredients are carefully sourced from trusted suppliers - presenting the best vegetables, fish and meat currently available. 

 

Where is Toklas restaurant?
Toklas restaurant is at 1 Surrey Street, just off the Strand in central London, between the Strand and the River Thames. We’re within walking distance of Temple, Covent Garden and Charing Cross. Climb a few steps before entering through our beautiful terrace. The open kitchen and artwork from the likes of Wolfgang Tilmans and Ragna Bley greet guests as you walk in.

 

What is Toklas restaurant known for?
Toklas is known for its seasonal Mediterranean cooking, excellent produce, open grill, thoughtful wine list, stunning terrace and relaxed setting. We work directly with small independent farms such as Todoli Citrus Foundation and Good Earth Growers, and with leading wholesale suppliers - Shrub, Natoora, Philip Warren Butchers, Swaledale Butchers, Hendersons Seafood & Portland Shellfish. 

 

Does Toklas restaurant serve lunch?
Yes. Lunch is served Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 3pm, with the kitchen closing at 2.30pm. The full menu is available at lunchtime, allowing you the option for either a leisurely long lunch or an elegant stop for a quick plate. 

 

Does Toklas restaurant serve dinner?
Yes. Dinner is served Monday to Saturday from 5.30pm to 11pm, with the kitchen closing at 10pm. The daily changing menu allows us to work with the best produce available on the day. 

 

Is Toklas restaurant good for a pre-theatre dinner?
Yes. Toklas is centrally located just off the Strand and within easy reach of the theatres of the west end. A pre-theatre menu is available each evening from 5.30pm - 6.30pm, offering two courses for £26 and three courses for £29. 

 

Does Toklas have a terrace?
Yes. Toklas has a large planted terrace designed by Miria Harris overlooking Surrey Street. It can accommodate around 80 diners and has heaters and canopies, making it comfortable for outdoor dining for much of the year. Tables on the terrace can be reserved, although we try to be flexible if the weather changes. The terrace is planted and covered, with heaters for cooler evenings.

 

Does Toklas have a bar?
Yes. The Toklas bar serves a selection of wines, snacks, beers and ciders, cocktails, including non-alcoholic cocktails and sodas.

 

What kind of wine does Toklas serve?
We put as much thought and consideration into our wine list as we do our food. Our extensive wine list focuses on producers we like, with an emphasis on sustainably made wines and independent growers. The list changes regularly and includes wines from across the Mediterranean and beyond. We work with winemakers who respect their land, the craft of winemaking and the unique ability wines have in reflecting a place and their origin. Whether working in sustainable, organic, biodynamic or regenerative methods, they generally refrain from the use of chemicals and unnecessary additions both in the vineyards and the winery. 

 

Does Toklas have vegetarian options?
Yes. Vegetables are the heart of our menu at Toklas, and there are always vegetarian dishes alongside our fish, meat and pasta dishes. The exact menu changes with the seasons, so you will always be able to enjoy the freshest, best produce available.

 

Does Toklas cater for dietary requirements?
We can accommodate a range of dietary requirements. Please let your server know about any allergies or dietary requirements before ordering so that we can advise you on the menu.

 

Can I book Toklas for a private event?
Yes. Toklas has a number of spaces available for private and larger events, including the restaurant, bar room and terrace. We love hosting weddings, parties, dinners and other celebrations. Is Toklas good for group dining?
Yes. Toklas can accommodate larger groups and private events, as well as smaller lunches and dinners. The menu has been designed to be flexible to accommodate both sharing larger plates between tables or a la carte. For larger parties, please contact our events team.
