We focus on excellent ingredients, traditional techniques and baking everything fresh throughout the day. Our counter is always changing according to the seasons and this is all served alongside incredible coffee and housemade drinks.

Toklas Bakery is in central London, close to Covent Garden, the Strand, 180 Studios and our friends Somerset House and the Courtauld Gallery. We’re a short walk from Covent Garden, Temple and Charing Cross stations. We are a great spot to pop in pre theatre, pre exhibition or pre shopping.

We bake a daily selection of sourdough breads, croissants, pain au chocolat, cinnamon buns, cardamom buns, seasonal pastries, cakes and Roman-style sandwiches. We also stock a carefully curated selection of food and ingredients from independent producers. You are also able to enjoy our bread in our restaurant and buy a loaf when you dine in.

Does Toklas Bakery make sourdough?

Yes. We make naturally leavened sourdough using carefully sourced flour and a long fermentation process. We work with small scale farms producing heritage grain, and we also mill some of our own flour. Our breads are baked fresh at the bakery throughout the week. Our bread can also be enjoyed at some of the best restaurants in London.

Our pastry selection includes croissants, pain au chocolat, cardamom buns, cinnamon buns and seasonal pastries. The range changes regularly depending on the season and the ingredients available. We currently have seasonal specials of pistachio and cherry brioche along with a blueberry cheesecake danish.

A Roman sandwich is made using pala romana, a light and airy Roman-style bread with a crisp exterior. At Toklas Bakery, we fill it with seasonal ingredients to create our take on the classic Roman sandwich.
