We are delighted to announce a special citrus dinner with Vicente Todoli of Fundacio Todoli Citrus, Valencia. Join us to taste and learn about the world of citrus, from Bergamots to Tangelos, Limequats to Pommelos and Poncirus to Yuzu.
The Todoli family have been citrus specialists for 5 generations. Vicente is better known as an art curator – he was director of Tate Modern from 2003-2010, and is currently artistic director of Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan. A decade ago he took over running the family citrus farm, and was persuaded by his friend Ferran Adria to expand the farm to prevent an urban development that would have destroyed the area's farmland. Todoli has become one of the largest collections of citrus in the world, with over 480 varieties.
The farm is now a charity, dedicated to the preservation of long-lost varieties, and has a library and laboratory where chefs can visit and research the fruits. Toklas has been working with Todoli for the past year as the exclusive importer to the UK, using the citrus in our restaurant, bakery and bar and distributing to like-minded restaurants.
This dinner will be an opportunity to hear from Vicente, sample some of the fruit, and enjoy a menu using several varieties. Dinner will begin at 7pm.
